A virtual tour and a talk...

Have finally dropped off some more cards, bookmarks and Giclee prints to sell at  the Head Of Steam Museum in Darlington were I am currently holding my solo exhibition.
I must admit it was quite surreal walking around just looking at my work. When you plan and put up an exhibition you don't really see it-you just see deadlines and timetables and fabrics and threads...

This is my Cogs & Wheels embroidered piece hanging in front of a brilliant black & white photograph of the workers of 'North Road Works'...I love how the image comes through the cutwork in my hanging-more by good luck that judgement I'm afraid!

The final picture is a toile inspired by the wool suits that all the workers used to wear-no overalls or protective clothing in those days-oh health and safety what have you done!!! I have left the pins visible so you can see where I have folded the fabric to create the tucks and the folds-this is agreat way to understand the drape of fabric and the warp and the weft.

I am holding talks and workshops throughout the exhibition  please visit my website Catherine Howard Designs for more details but I will keep posting here too!
